The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has indicated that it is planning to bring back students from remote areas, that have no internet facility, to their hostels to attend online classes.
Chairman HEC, Tariq Banuri, said that the education commission has sought special permission from the federal government in this regard. If allowed, the higher education commission will facilitate a small number of students from remote areas to return to their university hostels and continue their studies under strict safety protocols.
Banuri also highlighted that they are in talks with the telecommunication companies to offer data bundles to university students at cheaper rates.
He said that the collaboration with mobile operators to provide more affordable internet access to educational resources and online classes is in the final stages.
